blood in urine

Posted in Group:

My step dad has been diagnosed with bladder cancer. He is always in so much pain. Recently has been having blood in the urine. Has only had one chemo treatment so far. But I am not sure what all to expect. If someone has gone through this could you please help me, with any information.

Blood in the urine is unfortunately a symptom of bladder cancer. Have the doctors been able to help him manage the pain at all? My only experience with Chemo is with my grandmother and it can get quite rough, nausea, pain, stomach upset, bowel issues, etc. You can research the hell out of this, but it might only serve to upset you. I would expect more pain, weakness, etc. before there is any sign of getting better. Encourage him to eat when he can, gentle things are best, I would discuss with his Dr. what will help keep his strength up.

If medical means do not help with the pain, you might want to look to acupuncture, relaxation techniques, massage, means to help while not interfereing with his treatment.

Message me if you can use some support along the way.

Hugs-
